The Tony Girling Precedents

A former President of the Law Society, High Court Costs Assessor and founder member of the Supreme Court Costs Office Practitioners Group, Tony Girling is an acknowledged authority on costs, funding and client care problems.  Over the years, his precedents have enabled firms to prepare terms of business, information leaflets, client care questionnaire, CFA letters of engagement, contingency fee agreements and demands & needs statements covering most disciplines in legal practice.

Web4Law is delighted to announce that, on his retirement, Tony Girling agreed to transfer copyright in the precedents and the right to use his name to Web4Law.

Web4Law is pleased to make available the new, fully revised edition of Tony Girling’s Precedents. These have been thoroughly modernised and brought fully up to date to meet current SRA and Law Society requirements. Appropriate use of the materials will be an important step towards demonstrating best practice for firms considering Lexcel accreditation and for those who are Lexcel accredited.

The materials have also been significantly extended, to include questionnaires for property work, client care letters for crime and family, explanatory documentation for clients as well as insurance mediation documentation.

Various of the clauses included in the precedents have been specifically drafted as a result of claims made against solicitors, and are designed to assist solicitors avoid claims or suffer loss on the basis that they have failed to follow Court Rules or the SRA Code of Conduct.

The precedents are available without further charge to subscribers to the SCS service.  For those wishing to purchase the precedents alone, a fee of £200.00 (or for previous purchasers of the precedents £50.00) is payable, and you may place your order here.
